Does anyone know if the specialty pubic shavers work better than a regular shaver? I want a very close, smooth shave. wampascat711 replied: "I have found that Venus razors are the best."
sblg4lol replied: "I agree, Venus gets very close and smooth, I have tried the "bikini" shavers and they are not great, they tend to "catch" the hairs and pull them. I go completely bare and I always use my Venus razor, make sure you get the battery poered one cause I think that they have a disposable Venus now, also, make sure that you use a shaving lotion, they are better than shaving cream, Melaleuca has an all natural one that I use that has botanicals and other great stuff in it." First-time pubic shaver, what works best? I've been thinking about shaving my pubic hair but am not sure how to do it, is it like shaving one's legs. I'm also afraid that it will itch, how can I prevent or treat that. Will hair removal creams work better than shaving? deymond replied: "Use nair."

just_wondering replied: "Shave with the grain not against it. Soak in hot tub and use baby oil, but it will still itch as it grows."
kris_jean_art replied: "I would recommend getting a trimmer and using the lowest setting. Then lather up good with a nice shaving creme, and be sure to go with the grain! Hair removal cremes are chemically and harsh on some skin types even the sensitive ones.
Use baby powder to keep it from rubbin against your clothes.
Most red bumps are caused by the regrowing hairs that got trapped beneth the surface. Using a razor will cause those nasty bumps on some people no matter what they try to do.
If you want to totally avoid them then just go with the trimmer. No red bumps!"
dluvshistory replied: "Like I've answered before, it's completely healthy and normal. Waxing is less dangerous and costs about $35 every 4 weeks so it might be a better route to go. If you do shave though start with a trimmer with a guard!!!(no guard and you will cut yourself to doll rags)before using the blade. When using the blade make sure you hold your excess folds of skin, labia, out and away from the side you're shaving as these are filled with blood vessels and it can lead to a decent bit of bleeding, once you get down that far(best to start from the top as you'll be able to see more of what your doing as you go down). Before you start I recommend using Bump Rx from Sally's Beauty Store for about 4 days, it cuts down on skin rashes, bumps and chafing. Good luck!" Novice pubic shaver needs experienced advice!? Joe W replied: "as long as your cutting with a blade, you will have razor burn... my suggestion is you get a beard shaving kit and use that, its a lot easier and less chance of hurting urself.... not to mention you wont get any razor burn or shave bumps"

Rob S replied: "Use an electric hair trimmer with an adjustable height guard, like for beards and mustaches It'll keep it nice and even, and without the guard will shave it nearly clean, no cuts either. A little lotion (unscented, non-alcohol based) will take care of any minor irritation. You should be able to up a trimmer at any superstore (Walmart, Target, Meijer) for about $20 or so.
Oh, and BTW, we're here to answer the questions, not judge them. Lots of guys shave their pubes. Who wants a forest growing down there? :)"
TJ replied: "I'd say wax. Or use a Mach 3 Razor by Gillette w/ Coochy cream. It's an awesome cream used to shave sensitive areas of the body. When you're done, pat dry and use baby powder. Then you're soft and ready to go.
P.S. I just wanna say that Yahoo!Answers is for answers and advice from others WITHOUT the judgement. So screw the guy who told you to focus on something else. Besides, if you want my opinion...as long as men keep it trimmed and cleaned up, natural is always sexy. ;)"
nat replied: "To avoid razor burn, make sure you use a good quality shacing gel, then moisturise afterwards with some simple face moisturising cream. I moisturise every day down there, so that i don't get a rash when the hairs start growing back"

The best way to get a "perfect" shave of your shaft is to do it while laying in a bathtub filled with water. The water acts as the razor lubricant. If you have a bathtub, give it a try.
It is not always possible to get a perfect shave every time. But some hair you miss one time can be removed the next time you shave. Razor burn will increase every time you run the razor over the same spot -- try not to shave the same spot more than 4 times per session. Disposable razors are fine, I only use ones that have 3 blades. The new 5-blade razor is excellent, too, but expensive." |
